Today, Syria has applied formally to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, for the formation of a UN commission of inquiry on the allegations relating to the use of chemical weapons in the ongoing conflict between the forces of President Bashar al-Assad and armed opposition groups.
The delegate said Syria's permanent United Nations, Ambassador Bashar Jaafari: "Syria requested the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon to form a committee to investigate allegations of use of chemical weapons in the conflict now in Syria between the government and armed terrorist groups", theHe said.
