Found the remains of 83 people, mostly Iranian victims of the Gulf War in Iraq

Alent and the Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights, on Wednesday, found the remains of 83 people, including 36 Iraqi victims of the Iran-Iraq war in the Faw in Basra province, southeast of Baghdad.



The ministry said in a statement on Wednesday, that a team from the Department of prisoners and missing persons of the Department of Humanitarian Affairs in the ministry, in collaboration with research teams in Iran, under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross, carried out the drilling joint in the salted in the city of Faw, were also found during 83 رفاتا for victims of the Iran-Iraq war, including 36 Iraqi رفاتا.



The ministry added that this represents the seventh group remains that were found during drilling operations in the region, stressing that the search operation continues, in cooperation with the Iranian side.

The ministry pointed out that it will take place later the exchange remains between the two sides in the presence of a representative of the Ministry's office in the province of Basra over port Shalamjah border, after the completion of legal procedures and DNA testing in collaboration with the Ministry of Health; in order to identify the remains.



It is noteworthy that Iraq and Iran had signed in Geneva a Memorandum of Understanding and joint coordination in 2008, under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross, to intensify actions exploration and the search for remains and delivered, and reveal the fate of missing persons from both sides.



The Iraq war - Iran, also known as Gulf War I and signed in 1980 and lasted until 1988, and claimed the lives of thousands dead and wounded on both sides, and still remains a lot of fighters from both sides buried in border areas located within the boundaries of the province of Basra.
